Revised Timetable - From 29 June 2015
I would like to inform you of the following changes to our service with immediate effect following a technical issue on our Freedom 90 craft. On Saturday evening on the 2145 Ryde to Southsea Service, Freedom 90 experienced significant damage to the port propeller. The craft immediately returned to Ryde, where all passengers and crew disembarked safely. The service was immediately suspended to conduct a stop and review investigation with the MCA, with both craft being grounded.
On further investigation the propeller damage indicated a foreign object caused the propellers to break. Safety of passengers and staff is the number one priority for Hovertravel so our engineering team and the MCA have carried out full checks on Island Express today.
Following the checks on Island Express we are pleased to go back into service from 1615 today (Sunday) according to the normal Sunday service on the Summer Timetable. Freedom 90 will be moved to Woolston for repair work and will return in approximately three weeks.
From Monday 29th June to Friday 17th July the Summer Timetable will run with the following cancellations:
- Mon - Fri Ex Ryde 0730, 0800, 1600, 1630, 1700, 1730
- Mon - Fri Ex Southsea 0745, 0815, 1615, 1645, 1715, 1745
Any passenger booked on any of the above services are asked to please book on an alternative crossing or be on a priority standby.
Any passengers not affected by the cancelled services are asked to be mindful and use their booked time.
NB: If you do not wish to transfer to an alternative service please inform the staff at our ticket office who will arrange a refund or double compensation as per our Cancellation Delay Repay policy.
We have put the following further procedures in place to ensure the least possible inconvenience to all passengers:
We apologise for any inconvenience today’s suspension and this revised timetable may cause our customers and we ask for your patience as we redouble our efforts to return Freedom 90 to service whilst delivering the best possible one craft timetable we can.
