Hovercraft Handling Agent (Ryde)

It takes a special kind of person to get our customers journey’s off to a flying start. As a Hovercraft Handling Agent you will be the face of the Hovertravel Brand. Guiding and assisting our customers at the terminal in Southsea, as well as on board our Hovercraft. It’s all about enhancing the customer experience. Customer Service Advisor Apprenticeship

As a Hovercraft Service Advisor you will be the first point of contact for our passengers, welcoming and guiding customers at our Southsea terminal, from pavement to pad. You will be in a position to make a real difference to the customers’ experience as they start their journey. This will include but is not limited to; serving customers on the desk, selling tickets, supervising the craft departure, assisting passengers with their luggage, ensuring passengers safely embark and disembark from the craft, loading and unloading the hovercraft of freight and luggage. Progression to be full time Hovercraft Handling Agent (HHA) or Hovertravel Service. All apprentices will be invited to apply for a role when a
vacancy arises for when the apprenticeship has been completed.

Customer Service Advisor Apprenticeship

Masters

We're currently recruiting a master to join our team of dedicated pilots. 

In order to take command of a hovercraft on this route, an individual must hold one of the following STCW95 Certificates of Competence (CoC);

  • Master II/2 or 11/3, (Unlimited, <3000GT, or <500GT)
  • Master II/3, limited to "Hovercraft less than 500GT on near-coastal voyages only"
  • Appropriately qualified seafarers may apply to obtain this CoC issued by the MCA under STCW regulation II/3 as stated in MGN1856 and with reference to Annex D therein. In recognitions of this, applications will be welcomed from holders of: Chief Mate II/2 or II/3 (Unlimited, or 3000GT)

Navigators

To support our continued growth, we are also seeking to recruit Hovercraft Navigators. This is a full-time vacancy (35 hrs per week), however, we would consider candidates looking for a flexible or part-time work arrangement.

 

This position required applications to hold the following STCW95 Certificate of Competence (CoC):

  • Officer of the Watch (OOW) II/1 (Unlimited)

This position may lead to future development towards Master qualification, subject to additional MCA examination for the issue of STCW95 Master II/3, limited to "Hovercraft less than 500GT on near-coastal voyages only".

Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

Responsible for supporting the engineering department in day to day general tasks. This role requires some flexibility in terms of working hours to support the nature of the work demands in the engineering department. The main area of responsibility is to carry out general skirt maintenance & repair work alongside a variety other general maintenance tasks on the hovercraft. The role requires working the required shifts to maintain the skirt without disruption to the Hovertravel operational service. This will include ad hoc out of hours work for planned and unplanned maintenance/repair work as agreed in advance with
the Engineering Supervisor. Progression to be full-time Engineer. All apprentices will be invited to apply for a role when a vacancy arises for when the apprenticeship has been completed.
