Hovertravel supports Daisy Ring Bus CIC as Portsmouth patient transfer continues

02/01/26

Hovertravel has announced that it will be working closely in partnership with the newly formed Daisy Ring Bus Community Interest Company (CIC) as it takes over the running of the Portsmouth Daisy Bus service from Monday 5 January 2026.

The Portsmouth Daisy Bus service, which provides free transport for Isle of Wight residents with cancer from Hovertravel’s Southsea Hoverport directly to Queen Alexandra Hospital, will transfer from Wessex Cancer Support to the Daisy Ring Bus CIC following an agreement between the two organisations.

Julie Horrocks, Head of Sales & Business Development at Hovertravel, said:

“Hovertravel has a long-term commitment to the Isle of Wight community, and we are incredibly proud to continue supporting this essential lifeline for patients travelling to mainland hospitals. Working closely with the Daisy Ring Bus CIC ensures that islanders receiving cancer treatment can rely on the fastest connection across the Solent, with care, dignity and continuity at the heart of the service. We are excited to see this important service continue and strengthen into the future.”

The change follows successful collaboration and shared planning, including the transfer of ownership of the minibus from Wessex Cancer Support to the CIC, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this vital service.

Hovertravel has been a long-standing supporter of the Daisy Bus services and will continue to provide the fastest cross-Solent connection, enabling patients to reach essential hospital appointments as smoothly and comfortably as possible.

Michèle le Quesne Newton, Chair, Daisy Ring Bus CIC, added:

“We are delighted to be working closely with the caring team at Hovertravel, who are as committed as we are to providing a seamless journey for our Island patients with cancer.  Patients can continue to expect the same level of care from this Company, who have their best interests at heart.

We very much look forward to working alongside the Hovertravel team to deliver this, and are grateful for their support of us.”
