Hovertravel promotes awareness of Armed Forces Covenant 07/10/22

Hovertravel is promoting its support for those who serve, or who have served in the armed forces, and their families by proudly displaying the logo of the Armed Forces Covenant on both its hovercraft.

Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, said: “We signed the Armed Forces Covenant to demonstrate our unreserved support for military personnel and we are using our hovercraft to raise awareness amongst our customers and beyond.

As the world’s only year round passenger hovercraft service, our craft are iconic and we can use that to promote a greater understanding of how the Armed Forces Covenant can benefit businesses and local communities.”

As well as appearing on the exterior lift fan cowlings, the AFC logo is shown to customers on the onboard screens during the Hovertravel journey, reaching an annual audience in excess of 600,000 passengers.

Commodore John Voyce added: “I am delighted to be invited to attend the unveiling of the AFC logo on the Hovertravel hovercraft, an organisation that has served the people of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight for so long. Hovertravel is a great advocate of the Armed Forces Community and in signing the covenant have formally shown its support to its customers and the local community.

I look forward to its contribution to supporting the Armed Forces moving forward and hope that their pledge encourages other local businesses to sign the Armed Forces Covenant too.”

The covenant acknowledges that the armed forces community should have the same access to services as the civilian community and should not face disadvantages in their day-to-day lives owing to their time as part of HM Armed Forces.
