Hoverbus

Hovertravel's Hoverbus is the perfect way to travel around Portsmouth and Southsea for just £1.20 per single journey, per person or £3 for an unlimited 'hop on/off' day ticket (from 10th October 2011). Not only will the Hoverbus take you to and from the Hoverport at Southsea Seafront for your quick and easy trips to the Isle of Wight, but it will also take you around Portsmouth & Southsea.

The Hard Interchange which is ideal for:

  • onward travel by buses, trains at Portsmouth Harbour Station and coaches

  • Gosport Ferry

  • Gunwharf Quays and Spinnaker Tower

  • Historic Dockyard

Then, continuing onto Portsmouth City Centre and Portsmouth & Southsea Station.

The Hoverbus is designed to connect with both the arrival and departure of the hovercraft. Passengers are able to alight and board the bus additionally at bus stops along the journey including at Commercial Road.

Hoverbus Route

The Hoverbus leaves Southsea Terminal, travels along Pier Road and the Terraces, turns left into Museum Road and continues into St Georges Road to arrive at the Hard Interchange at Stand G in the Bus Station. The Hoverbus then turns left out of the Bus Station and follows Queen Street to Edinburgh Road utilising bus lanes. It then stops at the City Centre Bus Stop C on Commercial Road (a convenient stop for the Railway Station), proceeding onto Isambard Brunel Road and stops at the Civic Offices Bus Stop M (an alternative route for the Railway Station). The Hoverbus then returns to Southsea terminal via Winston Churchill Avenue, the Terraces and Pier Road.
